Marathon!

Erica ran the Marine Corps Marathon today & finished in 3:54, her best time ever by 3 whole minutes, holding a pace of 8:57/mile! Needless to say, she was thrilled with her race. Leila appeared to sleep through most of the action, but Jason, her grandparents & Rani were much more engaged in cheering. Erica says a huge THANKS to them for cheering her on!!

In one of her awake moments, Leila hangs with Rani.

Leila's new hairstyle

At the mall yesterday, Leila decided she wanted to see what she might look like when she finally grows some long hair. Her expression seems to show she's less than thrilled.

race day gear

Here's what Erica is wearing to the race tomorrow. Minus Leila.

That's not my puppy!

At the Marine Corps Marathon expo, Leila met the race mascot. She wasn't quite sure what to think.

Leila's leaf

Leila found a leaf to play with on our hike today. Here she shows it off to the camera...
...and here she wants me to enjoy it too!

Taji's hiking fun

Taji had the most fun of all. She loved bounding through the woods at top speed, chasing what we can only believe are imaginary animals. Here she is at full sprint coming over to say hello.

Hiking with the Grandparents

Leila was so happy when her Grandparents decided to come a few days early to visit. We decided to spend the gorgeous Sunday hiking in Virginia. Here are a few pictures from the outing.
Leila had a great time in the Baby Bjorn

Smile for the camera!

Grandma might never put Leila down!

Teaching Taji to say "ahhhh"

Leila's favorite pose is a wide open mouth as she says "ah ah ah ah ah." She was thinking Taji might want to join in the fun.

Here Leila tells Taji, "Say AHHHH"

Good dog!!

Hanging with Alex

We had dinner with our friends Holly & EJ on Monday night. Here are Leila and their son Alex hanging out on the table, always wanting to be the center of attention.

Hugs all around!

More Apple Picking

I guess we're at the Homestead Farms, trying to find a ripe and delicious bunch of apples. Here's Leila standing up in her stroller (a new habit that she just acquired today, and which makes us a little bit nervous), looking for the perfect apple.
Yeah! She thinks she sees the perfect apple.
But, she is thorough, so she sits back in her stroller and gives the apple a very detailed inspection from top to bottom.
Hurray! She pronounces that she has indeed found the perfect apple!

Out picking apples

Leila with her friend

Here's our neighbor hanging out with Leila on the front steps!

Times, they are a changing

One of our neighbor's friends stopped over today. She hadn't seen Leila since she was first born, and she wanted to see how Leila was doing. She also proclaimed Leila to be "the first white baby on Hanover Place!"

Leila was just proud to do her part for diversity in our little neighborhood. :-)

This is Leila and her friend, Isis, hanging out at daycare at the end of the day. They get along splendidly.

My pumpkin

Dear Kathy, thank you for my pumpkin. It is just my size. Now that I have a pumpkin AND my Halloween costume, I can't wait for October 31st. Love, Leila

Learning to feed Taji

Leila cracked us up with her giggling last night. She kept giving the dog little treats by accident and thought it was hilarious.

Not just tooth, now it's teeth

Leila wants to tell you something: mvcm df ,ncrjg lk m dn nf nn ds dnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

I can't be positive, but I think she meant to type, "I am getting another tooth on the bottom"

nmnmbnhyg bhhvnfbnhg h vb bhhhhv

That time she said, "Typing is fun and I think I'm pretty good at it!"

mhu jkjh uumjjjjjjjjj

I have no idea what that last one meant.

The tooth!

OK, so it's pretty hard to see, but here is a close up attempt to catch Leila's tooth on camera. Look carefully above my thumb and there it is starting to pop through!

Hanging with Rani

After being a bit fussy when Rani came over last week, Leila wanted the chance to show off her happier side. Everyone had fun!

Here, Rani is teaching Leila how to fly. Let's just hope she doesn't try to practice when nobody is holding her...
