Cousin Quinn
We met the Belmas family at KASH park over the weekend. Leila insists Quinn is her cousin, so we just go with it. Lifelong friends is close enough to being family, right?
Swinging at the park
Athena isn't quite big enough for the baby swings at the park but that didn't stop Leila from trying.

First night of soccer
Leila is playing PCYS this summer, just like Jason & I did when we were kids! Last night was her first night. She said she was nervous to try it for the first time, but she loved it! Granted, it was just practice and team picture night, but she had a great time.
Waiting for her turn
Making contact
Lily cheered her on while waiting for her team's practice
Go get it!

Fun with the grandparents
Athena had a fun filled day with her grandparents today and was in excellent spirits. She did sleep from 9pm to 5am last night, and then napped pretty normally today. Here's hoping it wasn't a fluke and jet lag stays away!

Airplane helper
Leila was an amazing helper on our trip so far. 24 hours since we left home, and no meltdowns, either big or small, from anyone (even me!). One teeny little flight to go. Wisconsin, here we come!

Leila's Other Father's Day Surprise
Erica and Leila had been working on this song for me for Father's Day for the past month and kept it a secret. Very impressive!

Leila Carrying Athena
The first time I saw her carrying Athena where it didn't feel like she was going to drop her at any instant.

Leila's New Cellphone
Leila was using her new cellphone all day today. You might think it looks like a wood compact mirror, but you'd be wrong.

USA! USA! USA!
Leila's class is having presentations for each country that the students are from. Yesterday it was the USA's turn. Marvelly, Leila, Mary Esther, Samson & Gabriela are the Americans in the class.
It's hard to talk about America in generalizations without being completely stereotypical and dismissing the diversity of our country. The teacher did a good job of balancing the information for the 5 & 6 year old audience!
After the presentation, we had: Pigs in a blanket, PB&J sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies & peanut butter cookies ("burned on the bottoms, just like Grandma used to make them" according to Samson's mom!).

New-ish Shirt Day
This was one of my favorite shirts to put Leila in, and now it's Athena's. With a few additional stains, but still in prime form.
