Henry's Birthday Party
This is our friend Henry (and his dad Ryan) at Henry's third birthday party.
Leila's party hat.
Time for feats of strength!
And, of course the birthday hotdogs.

Camping with Leila
Leila and I made camp in the living room on Saturday. She found a tent at a backpacking store and we thought it would be fun to set ours up.
Then we had dinner with our headlamps.

Dinner with Friends
We had a couple friends over for dinner last weekend. This is Leila and Philip watching a movie and generally chilling out. Never mind that the movie was in Danish...Leila didn't seem to notice!
Kieh taught Leila how to put her hair up in buns like Princess Leia
Scooter Riding and Fixing Up the Bikes!

Rooftop views in Kathmandu
We spent the afternoon at some friends' house. They live in a very populated neighborhood and from their rooftop you could people watch for hours! Leila spent some quality time waving and talking to the little kids on the opposite roof.
Hand washing time
This has now become a pleasant habit. After meals, Leila pulls the tall tippy stool over to the sink and washes her hands and mouth. Happy days!

Cooking "dinner"
And I quote..."I'm making maple syrup and mushrooms for us for
dinner." Hmmm. Sounds disgusting, or maybe she is onto something??

Leila has mastered and outgrown her tricycle in the span of a few
weeks. Good thing we have a bike for her birthday. Shhhh, it's a

Puppies!!
A friend adopted a dog and her three puppies recently. We took a trip
to visit them today and Leila loved them. Here is one chewing on my
shoelace.

The circus comes to Phora
A group of Irish entertainers (a juggler, musicians, a magician, a ventriliquist, and even a sword swallower!!!) is in Nepal volunteering to do shows for disadvantaged kids for 2 weeks. Phora invited them to do a show for us this weekend and it was pretty amazing. Although this is probably the LEAST disadvantaged group of kids in Nepal, we all loved it anyway.
Juggling knives...
A new hairstyle
I managed to convince Leila to sit still long enough to put french braids in her hair today. Not bad for how squirrely she was! She's giving me the OK with her hand so I think she approves.

Our observant daughter
Setting: Dinner at home.
The scene: Leila is over-tired and playing with her food.
The last straw: Leila tosses her plate, it falls on the ground, we refuse to pick it up, she screams and cries.
The following conversation goes something like this:
Leila (sobbing with tears streaming down her face): "I want my plate baaaaaack."
Erica: "You threw it so that tells us you're finished with it."
Leila (still sobbing): "Mommy, pick up my plaaaaaate."
Erica: "I'm not going to pick up your plate."
Leila (still sobbing): "Daddy, pick up my plaaaaate."
Jason: "I'm not going to pick up your plate either."
Leila (STILL sobbing): "Who is going to pick up my plaaaaate?"
Jason: "Maybe Taji will pick up your plate."
Leila (STILL sobbing, and very serious!): "But Taji doesn't have hands!"
Erica & Jason can't contain their laughter, Leila, being correct about Taji's lack of hands, doesn't get her plate back, and dinner ends with still more tears.

Chillin' with the Dogs
Ripple and Taji take a rest in the kitchen after a long day of wrestling and searching every corner of the house for things to snack on!
Leila shows off her sunglasses style on the way to Phora. Taji is pretty jealous of the shades!
Leila's masterpiece
I love my daughter. She drew this and then explained these were the rebels from the rebel alliance. From Empire Strikes Back, in case you didn't know.
