Pumpkin patch
Athena's class visited a pumpkin patch last week and I got to go along for the fun. They went on a hayride, held baby chicks, went in a maze, pet farm animals, picked out pumpkins and had a grand time.
Halloween 2019
Happy Halloween from our unicorn-riding princess and zombie girl! They LOVED trick or treating in America this year.

Catch #2
We caught our second flying squirrel in the attic last night. Fun facts: they are one of 2 nocturnal squirrel species, they make good pets (????), they have good honing instincts (releasing this one much farther away), and they nest in groups of up to 20 in the winter. Time to invest in more traps!

Decorating for Halloween
We put up some Halloween decorations this weekend. Leila and her friend Anna made this guy who now sits in our front yard, watching the world go by.

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Leila seemed unimpressed by the White House but I made her take a picture next to the street sign anyway.
Playing tourist
We met our friends in DC yesterday and went to the National Book Festival. We spent a few hours listening to authors, browsing the displays, and then headed to the Portrait Gallery for some coffee and to see the Michelle Obama painting. The girls were clearly into their own things.
